Gandhwan is a village of Phagwara tehsil in Kapurthala district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Phagwara, about 4 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Phagwara community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 029661, and it covers 208 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,454 people in Gandhwan: 758 men and 696 women, living in 299 households, an average of about 4.9 people per household. Spread over its 208 hectares, the population density works out to about 700 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 918 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 150, about 10 per cent of the village.
