Population and households

The 2011 census counted 411 people in Jhugian Gulam: 225 men and 186 women, living in 75 households, an average of about 5.5 people per household. Spread over its 85 hectares, the population density works out to about 484 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 827 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 52, about 13 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 274 people, about 67 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 70.19 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 74.74 per cent and women at 65.09 per cent. The census recorded 142 workers, about 35 per cent of the village. Of the 82 main workers, the largest group, 41, were other workers in trade, transport and services, ahead of 28 cultivators on their own land and 12 agricultural labourers. A further 60 people were marginal workers, employed for only part of the year.
