Gagra (Samrala) is a village of Samrala tehsil in Ludhiana district, Punjab, in the Malwa region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Khanna, about 8 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Samrala community development block and is served by the Gagra gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 033170, and it covers 188 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,040 people in Gagra (Samrala): 543 men and 497 women, living in 198 households, an average of about 5.3 people per household. Spread over its 188 hectares, the population density works out to about 553 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 915 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 96, about 9 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 637 people, about 61 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
