Galib Khurd is a village of Jagraon tehsil in Ludhiana district, Punjab, in the Malwa region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Jagraon, about 8 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Sidhwan Bet community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 033878, and it covers 293 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,359 people in Galib Khurd: 722 men and 637 women, living in 285 households, an average of about 4.8 people per household. Spread over its 293 hectares, the population density works out to about 464 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 882 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 123, about 9 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 649 people, about 48 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 72.65 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 76.97 per cent and women at 67.71 per cent. The census recorded 559 workers, about 41 per cent of the village. Of the 524 main workers, the largest group, 314, were agricultural labourers, ahead of 159 cultivators on their own land and 51 other workers in trade, transport and services. A further 35 people were marginal workers, employed for only part of the year.
