Where is Ramgarh?

Ramgarh is a village in Samrala tehsil of Ludhiana district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Malwa region, and the 2011 directory recorded Machhiwara, about 5 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Machhiwara community development block and is served by the Ramagarh gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 033054, and it covers 117 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 428 people in Ramgarh: 219 men and 209 women, living in 75 households, an average of about 5.7 people per household. Spread over its 117 hectares, the population density works out to about 366 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 954 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 67, about 16 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 53 people, about 12 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 54.85 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 61.62 per cent and women at 47.73 per cent.
