Shamaspur is a village in Samrala tehsil of Ludhiana district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Malwa region, and the 2011 directory recorded Samrala, about 4 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Samrala community development block and is served by the Shamspur gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 033144, and it covers 296 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 2,007 people in Shamaspur: 1,035 men and 972 women, living in 395 households, an average of about 5.1 people per household. Spread over its 296 hectares, the population density works out to about 678 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 939 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 214, about 11 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 720 people, about 36 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 80.37 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 85.98 per cent and women at 74.36 per cent. The census recorded 827 workers, about 41 per cent of the village. Neighbouring villages include Rajewal (Samrala), Nagra, Kulewal and Dhindsa.
