History
Makhu is a town of Ferozepur district near Harike — the confluence of the Sutlej and Beas rivers. The construction of the Harike Barrage in 1953 transformed irrigation and farming across this belt.
Makhu's railway station connected the town to the region. After Partition, refugees settled here and the town expanded.
