Gurne Khurd is a village in Budhlada tehsil of Mansa district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Malwa region, and the 2011 directory recorded Budhlada, about 5 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Budhlada community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 036062, and it covers 476 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,589 people in Gurne Khurd: 889 men and 700 women, living in 311 households, an average of about 5.1 people per household. Spread over its 476 hectares, the population density works out to about 334 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 787 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 162, about 10 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 645 people, about 41 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 63 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 70.24 per cent and women at 53.94 per cent. The census recorded 648 workers, about 41 per cent of the village. Of the 358 main workers, the largest group, 254, were cultivators on their own land, ahead of 73 other workers in trade, transport and services and 29 agricultural labourers. A further 290 people were marginal workers, employed for only part of the year.

Irrigation came mainly from canals (339 hectares) and wells and tube-wells (92 hectares). About 37 hectares were under non-agricultural uses such as the village settlement, roads and ponds.
