Where is Kishangarh?

Kishangarh is a village in Nihal Singh Wala tehsil of Moga district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Malwa region, and the 2011 directory recorded Nihal Singhwala, about 15 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Nihal Singhwala community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 033933, and it covers 632 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,847 people in Kishangarh: 963 men and 884 women, living in 356 households, an average of about 5.2 people per household. Spread over its 632 hectares, the population density works out to about 292 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 918 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 203, about 11 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 641 people, about 35 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 61.62 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 63.69 per cent and women at 59.34 per cent. The census recorded 611 workers, about 33 per cent of the village.
