Where is Kussa?

Kussa is a village of Nihal Singh Wala tehsil in Moga district, Punjab, in the Malwa region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Badhni Kalan, about 10 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Nihal Singhwala community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 033898, and it covers 833 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 2,995 people in Kussa: 1,644 men and 1,351 women, living in 551 households, an average of about 5.4 people per household. Spread over its 833 hectares, the population density works out to about 360 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 822 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 303, about 10 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 1,282 people, about 43 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
