Where is Bharial?

Bharial is a village of Pathankot tehsil in Pathankot district, Punjab, in the Majha region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Pathankot, about 17 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Pathankot community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 027605, and it covers 177 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,703 people in Bharial: 905 men and 798 women, living in 318 households, an average of about 5.4 people per household. Spread over its 177 hectares, the population density works out to about 962 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 882 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 185, about 11 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 905 people, about 53 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 83.66 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 89.66 per cent and women at 76.92 per cent.
