Where is Darkua Bangla?

Darkua Bangla is a village of Dhar Kalan tehsil in Pathankot district, Punjab, in the Majha region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Pathankot, about 13 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Dhar Kalan community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 027375, and it covers 449 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 422 people in Darkua Bangla: 222 men and 200 women, living in 80 households, an average of about 5.3 people per household. Spread over its 449 hectares, the population density works out to about 94 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 901 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 57, about 14 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 180 people, about 43 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
