Where is Hardo Saran?

Hardo Saran is a village of Dhar Kalan tehsil in Pathankot district, Punjab, in the Majha region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Pathankot, about 8 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Dhar Kalan community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 027393, and it covers 281 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 368 people in Hardo Saran: 188 men and 180 women, living in 82 households, an average of about 4.5 people per household. Spread over its 281 hectares, the population density works out to about 131 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 957 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 42, about 11 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 30 people, about 8 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 77.91 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 83.64 per cent and women at 72.05 per cent. The census recorded 106 workers, about 29 per cent of the village.
