Where is Tahra?

Tahra is a village of Pathankot tehsil in Pathankot district, Punjab, in the Majha region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Pathankot, about 12 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Dhar Kalan community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 027426, and it covers 96 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 581 people in Tahra: 304 men and 277 women, living in 107 households, an average of about 5.4 people per household. Spread over its 96 hectares, the population density works out to about 605 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 911 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 63, about 11 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 151 people, about 26 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Irrigation came mainly from canals (15 hectares) and wells and tube-wells (21 hectares). Farm power supply was recorded at 6 hours a day.
