Where is Mangewal?

Mangewal is a village in Anandpur Sahib tehsil of Rupnagar district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Puadh region, and the 2011 directory recorded Anandpur Sahib, about 4 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Anandpur Sahib community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 038366, and it covers 118 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,539 people in Mangewal: 772 men and 767 women, living in 274 households, an average of about 5.6 people per household. Spread over its 118 hectares, the population density works out to about 1,304 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 994 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 149, about 10 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 142 people, about 9 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
