Where is Raipur?

Raipur is a village in Nangal tehsil of Rupnagar district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Puadh region, and the 2011 directory recorded Nangal, about 4 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Anandpur Sahib community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 038574, and it covers 267 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,062 people in Raipur: 534 men and 528 women, living in 208 households, an average of about 5.1 people per household. Spread over its 267 hectares, the population density works out to about 398 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 989 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 139, about 13 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 253 people, about 24 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
