Where is Jaula Khurd?

Jaula Khurd is a village in Dera Bassi tehsil of SAS Nagar district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Puadh region, and the 2011 directory recorded Dera Bassi, about 17 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Dera Bassi community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 039280, and it covers 312 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 944 people in Jaula Khurd: 493 men and 451 women, living in 158 households, an average of about 6.0 people per household. Spread over its 312 hectares, the population density works out to about 303 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 915 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 116, about 12 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 375 people, about 40 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 66.55 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 72.16 per cent and women at 60.45 per cent. The census recorded 275 workers, about 29 per cent of the village.
