Where is Jheur Heri?

Jheur Heri is a village of SAS Nagar tehsil in SAS Nagar district, Punjab, in the Puadh region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded S.A.S. Nagar, about 6 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Kharar community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 039182, and it covers 204 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 991 people in Jheur Heri: 530 men and 461 women, living in 185 households, an average of about 5.4 people per household. Spread over its 204 hectares, the population density works out to about 486 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 870 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 120, about 12 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 365 people, about 37 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 83.35 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 88.94 per cent and women at 77.33 per cent. The census recorded 639 workers, about 64 per cent of the village.
