Where is Dodhala?

Dodhala is a village of Nawanshahr tehsil in SBS Nagar district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Rahon, about 12 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Aur community development block and is served by the Dudhala gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 032262, and it covers 260 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 870 people in Dodhala: 401 men and 469 women, living in 199 households, an average of about 4.4 people per household. Spread over its 260 hectares, the population density works out to about 335 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 1170 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 62, about 7 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 269 people, about 31 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 85.77 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 93.53 per cent and women at 79.18 per cent. The census recorded 243 workers, about 28 per cent of the village.
