Mahadipur Kalan is a village in Nawanshahr tehsil of SBS Nagar district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Doaba region, and the 2011 directory recorded Rahon, about 12 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Nawanshahr community development block and is served by the Mahadi Pur Kalan gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 032303, and it covers 135 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 154 people in Mahadipur Kalan: 85 men and 69 women, living in 34 households, an average of about 4.5 people per household. Spread over its 135 hectares, the population density works out to about 114 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 812 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 23, about 15 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 146 people, about 95 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 82.44 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 87.14 per cent and women at 77.05 per cent. Neighbouring villages include Chakli Shujat, Bahlur Khurd, Shamspur and Nangal Chhanga.
