Bhangal Kalan is a village of Nawanshahr tehsil in SBS Nagar district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Nawansahar, about 3 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Nawanshahr community development block and is served by the Bhaganl Kalan gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 032089, and it covers 302 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,890 people in Bhangal Kalan: 970 men and 920 women, living in 384 households, an average of about 4.9 people per household. Spread over its 302 hectares, the population density works out to about 626 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 948 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 197, about 10 per cent of the village.
