Where is Mandhali?

Mandhali is a village of Banga tehsil in SBS Nagar district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Phagwara, about 6 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Banga community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 032162, and it covers 388 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 3,170 people in Mandhali: 1,604 men and 1,566 women, living in 693 households, an average of about 4.6 people per household. Spread over its 388 hectares, the population density works out to about 817 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 976 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 342, about 11 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 1,811 people, about 57 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 82.04 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 85.28 per cent and women at 78.8 per cent.
