Where is Farid Khera?

Farid Khera is a village of Malout tehsil in Sri Muktsar Sahib district, Punjab, in the Malwa region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Malout, about 11 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Lambi community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 035238, and it covers 788 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 2,025 people in Farid Khera: 1,095 men and 930 women, living in 373 households, an average of about 5.4 people per household. Spread over its 788 hectares, the population density works out to about 257 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 849 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 206, about 10 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 569 people, about 28 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 67.62 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 76.1 per cent and women at 58.27 per cent.
