Why is this date a big one?

New Year's Eve is the most watched concert slot of the year in the Emirates, and Abu Dhabi has given it to a Punjabi artist whose tour keeps breaking his own records. The 2026 North American leg of the AURA tour drew more than 225,000 fans across 15 shows and grossed USD 32 million, passing the mark set by his 2024 Dil-Luminati Tour, and included two consecutive sold out nights at Madison Square Garden in New York. In Australia he became the first Punjabi artist to headline and sell out stadiums, drawing more than 90,000 fans.

What records has the AURA tour already set?

The European and UK leg included a sold out show at London's Wembley Stadium on September 12, 2026, where Dosanjh became the first Punjabi artist to headline the venue, a milestone Jugti reported at the time. The tour supports his album Aura, released on October 15, 2025, and has travelled across five continents. Dosanjh, born in Dosanjh Kalan village in Jalandhar district, made history in 2023 as the first Indian born artist to perform at Coachella, and in 2025 he received an International Emmy nomination for his acting in the Netflix film Amar Singh Chamkila.

What is he doing before Abu Dhabi?

The Abu Dhabi announcement lands while the India leg of the tour is under way: the RuPay AURA India Tour opened in Delhi and runs through Indore, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Lucknow into December, as Jugti reported when the India dates were announced. After that run, the tour closes its year where a large Punjabi and South Asian diaspora audience lives and works, in the Gulf, with the Yas Island show as the final night of 2026.
