Where is Khanaura?

Khanaura is a village of Hoshiarpur tehsil in Hoshiarpur district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Hoshiarpur, about 22 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Hoshiarpur-II community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 031755, and it covers 881 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 2,714 people in Khanaura: 1,434 men and 1,280 women, living in 530 households, an average of about 5.1 people per household. Spread over its 881 hectares, the population density works out to about 308 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 893 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 285, about 11 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 1,493 people, about 55 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
