It lies in the Doaba region, and the 2011 directory recorded Hoshiarpur, about 16 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Hoshiarpur-II community development block and is served by the Rajpur--Bhaian gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 031748, and it covers 399 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 2,402 people in Rajpur Bhaian: 1,250 men and 1,152 women, living in 488 households, an average of about 4.9 people per household. Spread over its 399 hectares, the population density works out to about 602 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 922 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 224, about 9 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 777 people, about 32 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 83.7 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 87.48 per cent and women at 79.6 per cent. The census recorded 839 workers, about 35 per cent of the village. Of the 740 main workers, the largest group, 440, were other workers in trade, transport and services, ahead of 178 cultivators on their own land and 111 agricultural labourers. A further 99 people were marginal workers, employed for only part of the year.

Hoshiarpur, the tehsil headquarters, and Hoshiarpur city, the district headquarters, are the practical hubs for administration and onward travel.
