Population and households

The 2011 census counted 5,118 people in Chawinda Devi: 2,718 men and 2,400 women, living in 952 households, an average of about 5.4 people per household. Spread over its 405 hectares, the population density works out to about 1,264 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 883 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 613, about 12 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 1,929 people, about 38 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 77.07 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 80.66 per cent and women at 73.06 per cent.
