Where is Ahar?

Ahar is a village of Hoshiarpur tehsil in Hoshiarpur district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Hoshiarpur, about 22 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Hoshiarpur-I community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 031684, and it covers 114 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 285 people in Ahar: 146 men and 139 women, living in 65 households, an average of about 4.4 people per household. Spread over its 114 hectares, the population density works out to about 250 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 952 women for every 1,000 men.
