Where is Ajmer?

Ajmer is a village of Mukerian tehsil in Hoshiarpur district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Mukerian, about 12 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Hazipur community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 031259, and it covers 163 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 901 people in Ajmer: 462 men and 439 women, living in 165 households, an average of about 5.5 people per household. Spread over its 163 hectares, the population density works out to about 553 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 950 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 96, about 11 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 69 people, about 8 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
