Where is Beh Mawa?

Beh Mawa is a village in Mukerian tehsil of Hoshiarpur district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Doaba region, and the 2011 directory recorded Kartarpur, about 4 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Talwara community development block and is served by the Bhe Mewa gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 031291, and it covers 279 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 928 people in Beh Mawa: 461 men and 467 women, living in 208 households, an average of about 4.5 people per household. Spread over its 279 hectares, the population density works out to about 333 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 1013 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 105, about 11 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 371 people, about 40 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 92.1 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 94.1 per cent and women at 90.14 per cent. The census recorded 247 workers, about 27 per cent of the village. A further 29 people were marginal workers, employed for only part of the year.
