Fatehpur is a village of Mukerian tehsil in Hoshiarpur district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Talwara, about 4 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Talwara community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 031290, and it covers 148 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 980 people in Fatehpur: 499 men and 481 women, living in 209 households, an average of about 4.7 people per household. Spread over its 148 hectares, the population density works out to about 662 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 964 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 122, about 12 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 144 people, about 15 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 89.74 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 94.92 per cent and women at 84.47 per cent. The census recorded 229 workers, about 23 per cent of the village.
