Deowal is a village of Hoshiarpur tehsil in Hoshiarpur district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Hoshiarpur, about 6 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Hoshiarpur-I community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 031629, and it covers 203 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 853 people in Deowal: 444 men and 409 women, living in 193 households, an average of about 4.4 people per household. Spread over its 203 hectares, the population density works out to about 420 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 921 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 106, about 12 per cent of the village.
