Where is Dherian?

Dherian is a village of Hoshiarpur tehsil in Hoshiarpur district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Hariana, about 20 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Bhunga community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 031346, and it covers 1,626 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 567 people in Dherian: 305 men and 262 women, living in 111 households, an average of about 5.1 people per household. Spread over its 1,626 hectares, the population density works out to about 35 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 859 women for every 1,000 men.
