Where is Kolian?

Kolian is a village in Dasua tehsil of Hoshiarpur district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Doaba region, and the 2011 directory recorded Dasua, about 11 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Dasua community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 030960, and it covers 44 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 245 people in Kolian: 120 men and 125 women, living in 50 households, an average of about 4.9 people per household. Spread over its 44 hectares, the population density works out to about 557 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 1042 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 39, about 16 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 186 people, about 76 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
