Mirzapur is a village in Dasua tehsil of Hoshiarpur district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Doaba region, and the 2011 directory recorded Dasua, about 5 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Bhunga community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 030914, and it covers 163 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 663 people in Mirzapur: 330 men and 333 women, living in 144 households, an average of about 4.6 people per household. Spread over its 163 hectares, the population density works out to about 407 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 1009 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 55, about 8 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 125 people, about 19 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 88.82 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 93.9 per cent and women at 84.03 per cent. The census recorded 196 workers, about 30 per cent of the village. Of the 185 main workers, the largest group, 82, were cultivators on their own land, ahead of 80 other workers in trade, transport and services and 13 agricultural labourers. A further 11 people were marginal workers, employed for only part of the year.
