Where is Sapar Heri?

Sapar Heri is a village in Samana tehsil of Patiala district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Malwa region, and the 2011 directory recorded Samana, about 11 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Samana community development block and is served by the Sapparheri ,Sapparheri Chann gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 036170, and it covers 251 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 436 people in Sapar Heri: 227 men and 209 women, living in 78 households, an average of about 5.6 people per household. Spread over its 251 hectares, the population density works out to about 174 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 921 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 46, about 11 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 119 people, about 27 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 67.69 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 71.43 per cent and women at 63.64 per cent. The census recorded 161 workers, about 37 per cent of the village. Of the 142 main workers, the largest group, 81, were cultivators on their own land, ahead of 39 agricultural labourers and 22 other workers in trade, transport and services. A further 19 people were marginal workers, employed for only part of the year.
