Where is Palasi?

Palasi is a village of Nangal tehsil in Rupnagar district, Punjab, in the Puadh region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Nangal, about 9 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Anandpur Sahib community development block and is served by the Palasi, Singhpura gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 038535, and it covers 277 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,625 people in Palasi: 825 men and 800 women, living in 301 households, an average of about 5.4 people per household. Spread over its 277 hectares, the population density works out to about 587 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 970 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 152, about 9 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 167 people, about 10 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 83.16 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 90.28 per cent and women at 75.76 per cent.
