Where is Dhanauni?

Dhanauni is a village of Dera Bassi tehsil in SAS Nagar district, Punjab, in the Puadh region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Dera Bassi, about 3 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Dera Bassi community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 039349, and it covers 126 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 955 people in Dhanauni: 521 men and 434 women, living in 164 households, an average of about 5.8 people per household. Spread over its 126 hectares, the population density works out to about 758 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 833 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 112, about 12 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 411 people, about 43 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
