Two sitting Aam Aadmi Party MLAs from Patiala district, Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra of Sanaur and Chetan Singh Jouramajra of Samana, resigned from the party's primary membership on Sunday, November 1, a day after AAP released its first list of 40 candidates for the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections.
Who resigned and how?
According to PTI, The Hindu and India Today, Pathanmajra sent his resignation letter to AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal, while Jouramajra, a former Punjab minister, announced his decision in a social media post and addressed his letter to state party president Aman Arora. Both confirmed the resignations to The Indian Express. Pathanmajra said, "I have resigned. Rest I will tell later." Jouramajra said he did not have his heart in the party and called the situation of Punjab heartbreaking.
Why now?
Neither name appeared in AAP's first list, and the party has not yet announced candidates for Sanaur or Samana. The Indian Express says renomination looked unlikely after AAP appointed halqa in-charges in both seats. India Today notes Pathanmajra has had a dispute with the leadership.

ਪੀਟੀਆਈ, ਦ ਹਿੰਦੂ ਅਤੇ ਇੰਡੀਆ ਟੁਡੇ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ ਪਠਾਣਮਾਜਰਾ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਅਸਤੀਫ਼ਾ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦੇ ਕੌਮੀ ਕਨਵੀਨਰ ਅਰਵਿੰਦ ਕੇਜਰੀਵਾਲ ਨੂੰ ਭੇਜਿਆ, ਜਦਕਿ ਸਾਬਕਾ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਜੌੜਾਮਾਜਰਾ ਨੇ ਸੋਸ਼ਲ ਮੀਡੀਆ ਪੋਸਟ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਫ਼ੈਸਲਾ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਚਿੱਠੀ ਸੂਬਾ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਅਮਨ ਅਰੋੜਾ ਨੂੰ ਲਿਖੀ। ਦੋਵਾਂ ਨੇ ਇੰਡੀਅਨ ਐਕਸਪ੍ਰੈਸ ਕੋਲ ਅਸਤੀਫ਼ਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਪੁਸ਼ਟੀ ਕੀਤੀ। ਪਠਾਣਮਾਜਰਾ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, "ਮੈਂ ਅਸਤੀਫ਼ਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਬਾਕੀ ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੱਸਾਂਗਾ।" ਜੌੜਾਮਾਜਰਾ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਿਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗ ਰਿਹਾ ਅਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਹਾਲਾਤ ਦਿਲ ਦੁਖਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ।

ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਟ੍ਰਿਬਿਊਨ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ ਆਪ ਦੇ ਸੀਨੀਅਰ ਆਗੂ ਤੇ ਜਨਰਲ ਸਕੱਤਰ ਬਲਤੇਜ ਪੰਨੂ ਨੇ ਬਗ਼ਾਵਤ ਦੇ ਦਾਅਵਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਕਾਰਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਸ਼ੱਕੀ ਸਰਗਰਮੀਆਂ ਕਾਰਨ ਕਿਨਾਰੇ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ। ਇਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਾਅਵੇ ਹਨ, ਜਦਕਿ ਦੋਵਾਂ ਵਿਧਾਇਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਅਜੇ ਵਿਸਥਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਕਾਰਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੱਸੇ।
