A pastor was killed inside his home-cum-church in Batala, Gurdaspur, on Thursday morning, and police have booked a local man, Naresh Kumar, in connection with the attack. The victim, Balwinder Pal, alias Laddi, was 45 or 46 according to different reports.

Around 9.30 am, one or two men entered and attacked him in the neck with a sharp-edged metal-cutting tool. Family members rushed him to the Civil Hospital, where he was declared dead. CCTV footage from the locality reportedly shows two men leaving the spot soon after.
