Punjab Police say they have dismantled a Pakistan ISI-backed arms and explosives supply network in Amritsar and solved the May 2026 IED blast near the Army Cantonment at Khasa, arresting six people in two linked cases, DGP Gaurav Yadav said on Tuesday, October 13, 2026.
Officers recovered a hand grenade, a 9mm pistol and five live cartridges, according to the police release carried by The New Indian Express, The Statesman and Yes Punjab. The claims are police allegations and the investigation continues.
What did police announce?
Amritsar Rural Police said three men from Moga and Amritsar were held for an alleged conspiracy to attack police establishments, and three others from Attari were held for the Khasa blast. The Tribune and The Times of India reported slightly different arrest counts per case in early copy, while the DGP's release speaks of six arrests in total.
What happened at Khasa Cantonment?
The IED exploded around 11 pm on May 5, 2026, against the wall of the Brigade Security building near Cantt Khasa in Amritsar. Police say the case has now been traced to the accused arrested this week.
What is the alleged ISI link?
Preliminary investigation points to links between the module, foreign-based smugglers and ISI operatives, police said. Teams are working to establish backward and forward linkages and identify other suspects.
