Where is Badhan?

Badhan is a village of Mukerian tehsil in Hoshiarpur district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Mukerian, about 14 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Hazipur community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 031243, and it covers 79 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 544 people in Badhan: 272 men and 272 women, living in 108 households, an average of about 5.0 people per household. Spread over its 79 hectares, the population density works out to about 689 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 1000 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 55, about 10 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 190 people, about 35 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
