Where is Fattuwal?

Fattuwal is a village of Mukerian tehsil in Hoshiarpur district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Mukerian, about 1 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Mukerian community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 031123, and it covers 135 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 975 people in Fattuwal: 501 men and 474 women, living in 221 households, an average of about 4.4 people per household. Spread over its 135 hectares, the population density works out to about 722 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 946 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 107, about 11 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 339 people, about 35 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 87.21 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 92.59 per cent and women at 81.88 per cent. The census recorded 250 workers, about 26 per cent of the village.
