Kasra Wan is a village in Mukerian tehsil of Hoshiarpur district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Doaba region, and the 2011 directory recorded Mukerian, about 7 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Hazipur community development block and is served by the Kasra-Wan gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 031239, and it covers 82 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 246 people in Kasra Wan: 119 men and 127 women, living in 52 households, an average of about 4.7 people per household. Spread over its 82 hectares, the population density works out to about 300 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 1067 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 25, about 10 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 32 people, about 13 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 87.78 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 90.74 per cent and women at 84.96 per cent. The census recorded 62 workers, about 25 per cent of the village. Of the 42 main workers, the largest group, 27, were cultivators on their own land, ahead of 10 other workers in trade, transport and services and 3 household industry workers. A further 20 people were marginal workers, employed for only part of the year.
