Where is Kolian?

Kolian is a village of Mukerian tehsil in Hoshiarpur district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Mukerian, about 14 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Mukerian community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 031163, and it covers 193 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 306 people in Kolian: 157 men and 149 women, living in 64 households, an average of about 4.8 people per household. Spread over its 193 hectares, the population density works out to about 159 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 949 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 46, about 15 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 6 people, about 2 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
