Where is Langah?

Langah is a village of Mukerian tehsil in Hoshiarpur district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Mukerian, about 10 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Mukerian community development block and is served by the Langah-202 gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 031064, and it covers 82 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 419 people in Langah: 205 men and 214 women, living in 87 households, an average of about 4.8 people per household. Spread over its 82 hectares, the population density works out to about 511 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 1044 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 49, about 12 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 199 people, about 47 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 86.22 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 92.7 per cent and women at 80.21 per cent.
