Where is Sihan?

Sihan is a village in Mukerian tehsil of Hoshiarpur district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Doaba region, and the 2011 directory recorded Mukerian, about 8 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Mukerian community development block and is served by the Umarpur gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 031067, and it covers 104 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 497 people in Sihan: 262 men and 235 women, living in 104 households, an average of about 4.8 people per household. Spread over its 104 hectares, the population density works out to about 478 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 897 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 56, about 11 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 110 people, about 22 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
