History
Qadian is a historic town of Gurdaspur district, founded in 1530 by Mirza Hadi Beg. It is the birthplace of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, who founded the Ahmadiyya movement in 1889.
The Minarat-ul-Masih — the white minaret — is the town's most recognisable building. After Partition the Ahmadiyya headquarters moved to Rabwah in Pakistan, but Qadian remains the movement's historic centre.
Geography & people
Qadian stands east of Batala, in wheat and paddy country. The 2011 census counted 23,632 residents. The town has a distinctive Ahmadiyya community presence.
Places of interest
The Minarat-ul-Masih, Masjid Aqsa and Bahishti Maqbara are the town's principal sites. The railway station connects Qadian to the region.

ਕਾਦੀਆਂ ਗੁਰਦਾਸਪੁਰ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਇਤਿਹਾਸਕ ਕਸਬਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਨੀਂਹ 1530 ਵਿੱਚ ਮਿਰਜ਼ਾ ਹਾਦੀ ਬੇਗ ਨੇ ਰੱਖੀ ਸੀ। ਇਹ ਮਿਰਜ਼ਾ ਗ਼ੁਲਾਮ ਅਹਿਮਦ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ-ਸਥਾਨ ਹੈ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ 1889 ਵਿੱਚ ਅਹਿਮਦੀਆ ਤਹਿਰੀਕ ਦੀ ਨੀਂਹ ਰੱਖੀ।
ਮਿਨਾਰਤ-ਉਲ-ਮਸੀਹ — ਚਿੱਟੀ ਮਿਨਾਰ — ਕਸਬੇ ਦੀ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਪਛਾਣੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਇਮਾਰਤ ਹੈ। ਵੰਡ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਅਹਿਮਦੀਆ ਜਮਾਤ ਦਾ ਕੇਂਦਰ ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ ਦੇ ਰਬਵਾਹ ਚਲਾ ਗਿਆ, ਪਰ ਕਾਦੀਆਂ ਅੱਜ ਵੀ ਤਹਿਰੀਕ ਦਾ ਇਤਿਹਾਸਕ ਕੇਂਦਰ ਹੈ।

2011 ਦੀ ਮਰਦਮਸ਼ੁਮਾਰੀ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਆਬਾਦੀ 23,632 ਸੀ। ਕਸਬੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਹਿਮਦੀਆ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਦੀ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਮੌਜੂਦਗੀ ਹੈ।
