History
Sri Hargobindpur is a historic town of Gurdaspur district, founded by the sixth Sikh Guru, Guru Hargobind Sahib, who named it after himself.
Guru Ki Maseet — the mosque the Guru had built for the local Muslims — still stands, a mark of the religious tolerance of Sikh history. A 1933–34 photograph records the mosque as it looked then.

Sri Hargobindpur stands near the Beas river, south-east of Batala, in wheat and paddy country. The 2011 census counted 8,241 residents. The town is the bazaar and service centre for the surrounding villages.

ਸ੍ਰੀ ਹਰਗੋਬਿੰਦਪੁਰ ਗੁਰਦਾਸਪੁਰ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਇਤਿਹਾਸਕ ਕਸਬਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਨੀਂਹ ਛੇਵੇਂ ਸਿੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ, ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੇ ਰੱਖੀ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਂ ਰੱਖਿਆ।
ਗੁਰੂ ਕੀ ਮਸੀਤ — ਜੋ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੇ ਇੱਥੋਂ ਦੇ ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨਾਂ ਲਈ ਬਣਵਾਈ ਸੀ — ਅੱਜ ਵੀ ਖੜ੍ਹੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਦੀ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਸਹਿਣਸ਼ੀਲਤਾ ਦੀ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨੀ ਹੈ। 1933–34 ਦੀ ਇੱਕ ਤਸਵੀਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਹ ਮਸੀਤ ਦਰਜ ਹੈ।
