Complaint Seeks Counselling for Moosewala's Toddler Brother

A Chandigarh-based rights group has filed a complaint in Mansa seeking counselling for the parents of Sidhu Moosewala's toddler brother, after a video showed the child making gun-like gestures on stage at a Toronto concert. The family's lawyer has rejected the allegations.

The complaint alleges the child was prompted to make gunfire gestures and imitate gunfire sounds on stage. It argues that exposure to such imagery at a young age could affect his development, according to reports by The Statesman and Times of India.

What is being asked

Advocate Navkiran Singh asked authorities to offer the parents "guidance and counselling" under the Juvenile Justice Act and to monitor the child's future public appearances, the reports said. The group said the aim is the child's welfare and protection, not punishment. The allegations have not been tested by any authority.

The family's response

Family advocate Gurvinder Singh Sandhu rejected the allegations, saying parents know best how to raise their child. He compared the stage moment to children taking part in traditional martial arts such as gatka in Punjab, according to the reports. Mansa Deputy Commissioner Navjot Kaur said her office had not yet verified receipt of the formal complaint.

ਦ ਸਟੇਟਸਮੈਨ ਅਤੇ ਟਾਈਮਜ਼ ਆਫ਼ ਇੰਡੀਆ ਦੀਆਂ ਰਿਪੋਰਟਾਂ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਇਤ ਦਾ ਦੋਸ਼ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਬੱਚੇ ਨੂੰ ਸਟੇਜ 'ਤੇ ਗੋਲੀ ਚਲਾਉਣ ਦੇ ਇਸ਼ਾਰੇ ਅਤੇ ਆਵਾਜ਼ਾਂ ਕੱਢਣ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਆ ਗਿਆ। ਇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿਹਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇੰਨੀ ਛੋਟੀ ਉਮਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਜਿਹੀਆਂ ਤਸਵੀਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਅਸਰ ਬੱਚੇ ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਸ 'ਤੇ ਪੈ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਮੰਗ ਕੀ ਹੈ

ਰਿਪੋਰਟਾਂ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ ਵਕੀਲ ਨਵਕਿਰਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਮੰਗ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿ ਜੁਵੇਨਾਈਲ ਜਸਟਿਸ ਐਕਟ ਤਹਿਤ ਮਾਪਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ "ਮਾਰਗਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਅਤੇ ਕਾਊਂਸਲਿੰਗ" ਦਿੱਤੀ ਜਾਵੇ ਅਤੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਦੀ ਭਵਿੱਖ ਦੀ ਜਨਤਕ ਹਾਜ਼ਰੀ 'ਤੇ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਰੱਖੀ ਜਾਵੇ। ਜਥੇਬੰਦੀ ਦਾ ਕਹਿਣਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮਕਸਦ ਬੱਚੇ ਦੀ ਭਲਾਈ ਹੈ, ਸਜ਼ਾ ਨਹੀਂ। ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੋਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਅਥਾਰਟੀ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਜਾਂਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਈ।

ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਦਾ ਜਵਾਬ

ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਦੇ ਵਕੀਲ ਗੁਰਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੰਧੂ ਨੇ ਦੋਸ਼ ਰੱਦ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਮਾਪੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵਧੀਆ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਬੱਚੇ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਹੈ। ਰਿਪੋਰਟਾਂ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਟੇਜ ਦੇ ਇਸ ਪਲ ਦੀ ਤੁਲਨਾ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਗਤਕੇ ਵਰਗੀਆਂ ਰਵਾਇਤੀ ਮਾਰਸ਼ਲ ਆਰਟਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਲੈਣ ਨਾਲ ਕੀਤੀ। ਮਾਨਸਾ ਦੀ ਡਿਪਟੀ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ ਨਵਜੋਤ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਫ਼ਤਰ ਨੇ ਅਜੇ ਰਸਮੀ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਇਤ ਮਿਲਣ ਦੀ ਪੁਸ਼ਟੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ।
